Dr. Tartt speaks with Fit with Fallon Podcast about the impact of health and and trauma and how psychologists help people to develop a healthier link between past trauma and healthy, future physical and emotional development. Many people are surprised that they struggle with achieving their health goals because unresolved, underlying past trauma has resulted in an over-reliance on unhealthy coping habits (emotional eating, keeping weight to feel undesirable and safe, etc.).
Some studies report approximately 1 in 4 people have experienced some form of trauma in their life. However, a good percentage wait to get psychological intervention and try instead to cope on their own. In this interview, I speak with Fallon Mercedes (health trainer and fitness expert) about how health experts recognize psychological blocks and trauma with their fitness clients and the importance of connecting them with a psychologists.
