MY PSYCHOLOGY PRACTICE

I have been working with children and adolescents for over twenty-one years and thoroughly enjoy what I do! I work with children of all ages but tend to specialize in children who are seven years old and above. There are circumstances where I will work with younger children but this is discussed on a case by case basis. I work with not only the child/adolescent and adults but the entire family and the various systems they may be associated with (schools, teams, hospital, primary care physician, government agencies, etc.). I am heavily child/teen focused and will allow them to express their feelings first before getting parental feedback to encourage communication of feelings. I connect with kids/teens very easily and enjoy respecting parents' beliefs, culture and parenting styles.

I tend to work from a positive psychology perspective and, therefore, focus on your children's strengths before challenges are discussed. I specialize in brief therapy models that are solution-focused so that results can be gained sooner rather than later. I work with a variety of issues but some of the most common are:

  • Absent Fathers (Children who have to deal with absent, inconsistent fathers)

  • Academic Underachievement

  • ADHD

  • Anger Management (individual sessions only)

  • Anxiety

  • Behavioral Issues (misbehavior, defiance, problem authority)

  • Blended Family Issues (remarriage, creating new culture, getting along other biological parent, etc.)

  • Bullying (Victim and aggressor)

  • Dating (Teen relationship issues)

  • Depression

  • Discipline Problems

  • Family Conflict (Disobedience, divorce, work stress, disconnection)

  • Grief

  • Life Coaching

  • Marriage Counseling

  • Parent Coaching

  • Peer Pressure

  • Poor Decision making

  • Relationship Issues (Dating, sex, identity issues)

  • Self-esteem

  • Social Issues (Interpersonal, social skills)

  • Other Common Issues (fighting, family arguing, families who are too busy, character issues)

I would love to work with your child, adolescent and/or family. The typical sessions is 50 minutes to 1 hour at $200/hour. Please contact your insurance provider or call the office 404-377-4757 to discuss availability, fit, and whether insurance coverage is available.
